Abstract
The concept of error management has drawn much attention in both academia and practice due to its profound influence on employees’ attitudes and behaviors at work. While many studies have established the associations between error management culture and attitudes and behaviors at work, we know little about how error management culture influence employees’ life quality outside of work. To address this research gap, the goal of this study was to explore the relationship between error management culture and employees’ psychosomatic symptoms, as well as the mediating mechanism (i.e., helping behavior) and contextual variable (i.e., job resources) for the relationship. The final sample was 110 full-time employees. Results of the analyses showed that error management culture has a negative relationship with psychosomatic symptoms, and the relationship was mediated by helping behavior. The results also suggested that the indirect effect of error management culture on psychosomatic symptoms via helping behavior was moderated by job resources.
