Abstract
Under modern technology, work styles have also undergone tremendous changes. Nowadays, many workers only need a computer and network and they can work anywhere without space constraints. But at the same time, these independent workers or small teams cannot afford high office rents, so there is a new type of office venues which are called coworking space. A nice coworking spaces do not only have robust office equipment but also provide a community environment that is a challenge for traditional offices. These coworking spaces promote communication, creativity and resource sharing among employees. This study uses the coworking space of WEE in Kaohsiung City as a case to explore the main factors of constructing community awareness and community management. The coworking space is explored through semi-structured interviews with operators. The study concluded the following findings: First, in addition to providing a comfortable environment, communication among community members is also an important factor in managing a coworking space. Second, the coworking space must create opportunities for communication and create a communication space of a certain scale. In summary, the operator of the coworking space plays a key role. The operator must take the responsibility of connecting and organizing the exchanges between members of the community.
