  • Abstract Recent years, air pollution has grown. Health awareness attracted increasing attention. Many people pay attention on these issues, but Taiwan's air pollution monitoring is only from the Government's air quality station. The coverage can not show the real status in people's real life, and people exist cognitive gap between air pollution and health damage, resulting in a long term unprotected exposure to high-risk air pollution.
    In this study, we take mother as the target users, the Human-Centered Design as the design method. Using an application of IoT in mother's daily life and child care. We expect to reduce the cognitive gap between air pollution and health damage, and to explore how to use IoT to change the behavioral response of mothers to cognitive air pollution and health awareness.

    We used field study, deep interview and user experience in the design cycle of HCD. The interview, observation and practical experience were repeated to understand the actual situation of mothers in their daily lives and difficulties in child care, and find out what mothers really need. In the continuous design process, we also found many of our blind spot and different points of views. Thanks for those different opinions and exploration, we
    developed of a set of mobile air quality sensor and App, so that the application of the IoT and App can be more naturally integrate into mothers life and child care, and can better protect themselves and their families health.
