Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to investigate three phenomena and related results when Internet news media reported on the topics about Jeremy Lin, a Taiwanese basketball player for Charlotte Hornets of National Basketball Association. There were (1) whether Internet News Media in Taiwan used specific agenda- attribution to report the related information, (2) whether agenda-setting of the issue differentiated from audience’s understandings of basketball and (3) whether there were connections between audience’s cognition on the information about Jeremy Lin and their watching intentions. Based on Content Analysis and Questionnaire Survey, this study showed (1) the effects of agenda- attribution of news result from distinguished news types and reporting periods, (2) related news reported by DONG media is consistent with cognition of its audience, (3) the effect of agenda-setting differentiates from audience’s understandings of basketball in DONG media, (4) audience’s cognitions on the information about Jeremy Lin are different from their Level of sport involvements and (5) audience’s cognition on the information about Jeremy Lin makes effect on their watching intention. |
