  • Abstract A distributed energy resources (DER) converter test platform, including DC power supply, power network simulator, AC loads, oscilloscope and power quality monitoring system, is presented in this thesis The platform can be used to simulate the network integration of small photovoltaic and wind power generator. The platform is used to test the power converter behaviors under abnormal conditions including over and under voltage and frequency, harmonics variations, and the low voltage ride through (LVRT) capability. Power network simulator is used to create low voltage events with different voltage sag and duration. An efficient test procedure is proposed to test LVRT capability of power converter. LVRT curves obtained from four different converters are plotted and compared with standard curves to verify whether they are in compliance with grid codes.
