  • Abstract Investigation on the chemical constituents of ethyl acetate organic extract from the Formosan soft coral Lobophytum varium, collected from the Jihui Fish Port, Taitung, Taiwan in 2013. The study have led to the isolation of five new natural products, including two lobane-type diterpenoids lobovarols F and G (1 and 2) and three prenyleudesmane-type diterpenoids lobovarols H-J (3-5), along with five known compounds 6-10. Compound 10 was discovered for the first time from natural resources. The structures of compounds 1-10 were established by spectral data analysis (IR, MS, 1D and 2D NMR) and comparison of spectral data with those of the related known compounds.
The cytotoxicity of compounds 1-10 against the HUCCT1 (Human bile duct epithelial cancer cells)、DLD-1 (Human colon adenocarcinoma cells)、HT-29 (Human colon adenocarcinoma cells) tumor cell lines were determined. The results showed that compound 6 exhibited weak cytotoxicity against HUCCT1、DLD-1 cells the IC50 = 13.0, 21.5(μg/mL).
