  • Abstract This study investigates phenomena of surface plasma induced by an incident electromagnetic wave on a surface. Surface plasmon wave is a consequence of the collective shock behavior of free electrons within the metal excited by external electromagnetic field. Owing to the shielding effect of high electron density in metal, the electron waves cannot penetrate the metals, but generate a confined longitudinal wave on the surface. This wave is called non-radiative surface plasmon waves. In this study, electromagnetic waves are obtained by solving Maxwell's equations from COMSOL software using the finite difference frequency domain method. The effects of wavelength and incidence angle of electromagnetic wave and optical properties of materials on thermal fields near a surface are presented.
