Abstract |
The rapid development of modern medical technology has significantly improved our capability to treat diseases that would not have been possible. However, health is still a major issue that most people care about how to prevent diseases. The concept of personal health has extended from treatment to disease prevention. In addition to increasing the average life expectancy, more people pursue longer healthy life by diet control, frequent exercise, and daily activity regulation. More and more people are aware of the importance of health data management and start to maintain a record of their personal health data. However, there is no well-recognized personal health management website in Taiwan. Developing a good personal health management system for commercial use requires a solid technical system and a good business model. The purpose of this study is to investigate how a personal health management system can be designed and whether the user would perceive such a system to be useful. In this thesis, we have adopted the design science approach to analyze system requirements, implement a prototype system that includes health news, personal health records, discussion boards, and friendly user interface to enter data from mobile phones and various other media. An experiment was conducted to evaluate the feasibility of the prototype system. The result shows that the subject did find that the system was useful in enhancing their healthcare management. |
