||The outstanding performance of Taiwanese popular music industry has been leading in the Asian Chinese popular music market from 1990s. While the success been going on, there are many researchers studying about this industry, focusing on the environmental analysis of the industry; for example, the technical challenges in Taiwanese music industry (like the online free music platform), and the rising of Chinese and Korean music industry.|
Besides the environmental analysis of the industry, there is less research discuss about individual case study, especially the foreign singers. By observing the Golden Melody Award（GMA, 金曲獎）in Taiwan－Asian popular music top award, it is easy to find out the stunning performance form the award record made by Chinese Singer born in South East Asian. There have been 21 GMA awards contributed from the singers from Singapore and Malaysia. I have wondered the reason makes these singers coming to Taiwan? What is the competitive advantage in Taiwan Popular Music Industry?
In order to collect more information and details, I have applied qualitative method, including interview and observing with a Chinese singer from Indonesia,樂夏, who is going to release her first album in a month. Besides, I also interviewed her producer,廖士賢. With the organizational theories, Five Forces analysis and Resource Based View, this research aimed to find out the opportunities and challenges in the case studies.
