Abstract |
Nd:Y3Al5O12 (Nd:YAG) single crystal is the most commonly used laser crystal. In this thesis, highly-doped (Nd-doped concentrations = 1.5-4%) Nd:YAG crystals are grown by Czochralski (CZ) pulling technique under nitrogen atmosphere with crystal diameter Dc = 50 mm. Side-pump and double end-pump laser systems are used to measure the slope efficiency of laser crystal. The crystal structure is confirmed through X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD). By using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), the segregation phenomenon is observed. Finally, Ultraviolet/Visible Spectroscopy shows that Nd:YAG crystal with higher Nd-doped concentration has better absorption and less transmission of light, which leads to a better laser performance. |
