  • Abstract The purpose of this thesis is improving the current rollator to bring users larger space to use and more safe. There are two points of the improvement: one is folding structure, reducing the volume after folding; another is the speed controller, preventing users falling.
    This thesis is about designing a kind of folding rollator which folding volume can be reduced. First, design 3D model and size with Pro/Engineer. Making sure mechanism is folded in expected way. Finally, following CNS standards to simulate the stability and loading test of rollator. In the final design, comparing with rollators in the general market, we found the folding volume of my design is better than general type.
    After searching much product information and patent publication about rollators, it shows that there is short of designs about speed control of rollator. Therefore, we design a kind of speed controller for rollators, which can prevent users from falling because of inappropriate exerting. Drawing the structure of speed controller by Pro/E software, and make sure that mechanism is work. Then according to the analysis of wheel’s speed, confirmed the feasibility of the speed controller.
