  • Abstract In this study, we study electrically tunable wide-angle laser in dye-doped blue phase liquid crystals(BPLCs). BPLCs like the three-dimensional photonic crystals(PCs), and it can be used to be a laser cavity. When the laser dye doped BPLCs, a laser emission can be observed under appropriate pumping energy. Using IPS electrode structure can achieve electrically tunable wide-angle laser. In the first part, compare the three LC materials, choose the material which is most suitable for BPLCs. In the second part, applied electric field to the BPLC cell induce that PC structure is changed in the BPLC configuration under various angles, producing a shift of the photonic band gap under various angles. It is found that the shift is about 70nm. In the third part, we fabricate the BPLC laser, the shift of lasing wavelength were about 55nm under various angles. Electrically tunable wide-angle laser in dye-doped BPLCs have been achieved.
