  • Abstract A simple method to make a controllable liquid crystal Fresnel lens with bistable state is proposed based on a surface of polymerization and the characteristic of nanoparticles. The sample is fabricated by a homogeneous aligned substrate and a vertical aligned one of coating polymer film. However, it has low diffraction efficiency. We improve the patterned electrode type with etching electrode structure. Experimental results reveal that liquid crystal Fresnel lens which ITO etching pattern using the nanoparticles doped with liquid crystals has bistable state and high diffraction efficiency.
