  • Abstract Everyone purchases to live better. Many models are used to describe how people live, such as Gross National Happiness(GNH)、Misery index、OECD 「Your Better Life Index」…and so on. I use the model of The Good Life from Robert and Edward Skidelsky. They discuss it in the book of《 HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH》. Several elements are described for The Good Life. They are health、security、respect、personality、harmony with nature、friendship and leisure. The elements do not contain salary. We usually think income or salary is important for our life. Does the model of Robert and Edward Skidelsky have to add salary or sex for another element?
The paper used the doctors working in Pingtung County for study. We sent out 1,179 questionnaires. It included basic data, seven elements, salary and sensation for good life. We accepted 291 questionnaires. And use them to analyse.
John Maynard Keynes had a speech about Economic Possibilities for our Grandchildren. There would come a time (around 2015 or 2030) when capitalism would be able to provide for all our needs and the work week would drop to 10 or even 5 hours. Adam Smith insisted that the workers had more income would be aggressive and studious(The Wealth of Nations).
The study shows sensation of Good Life is analytically related to 7 elements of Food Life, but not related to salary or sex.
The doctors of Pingtung county work hard and are studious. I hope this study will give you more information for doctors. It will make us to respect each other.
