Abstract |
Since the financial tsunami in 2008, Taiwan's economic growth was severely affected due to its high dependence on exports. To solve the domestic economic slowdown and high unemployment and other issues, the Taiwanese government issued a consumption voucher program, hoping to stimulate economic growth. This paper uses the dynamic stochastic general equilibrium model to investigate this policy, and finds consumption vouchers indeed stimulated domestic consumption, but the negative impact on investments made the effects of promoting economic growth insignificant. |
