  • Abstract The major degradation of the performance by OFDM technique in a power line communication system comes from impulse noises. In order to overcome the effect of impulse noises, a clipping method has been proposed and verified as an efficient technique. This paper, however, proposes a method by maximum likelihood decoding in the time domain instead of frequency domain in the traditional OFDM system. This paper then conducts computer simulation to compare the proposed scheme with the clipping method under the system, in which the linear block code and OFDM systems are utilized. The simulation result shows that the proposed method outperforms the clipping method proposed in the literature.
