  • Abstract The enchantment of M&A strategy and the trend of globalization urging companies want integrate their core capabilities and resource with others whose resource is complementary, in order to create synergy by taking M&A strategy. Indeed, there is over 50% of M&A cases that did not achieve the expected goals. Lenovo got famous on the international PC market just with one night, due to the merger with IBM PC. In spite of nowadays low growing margin in PC market, Lenovo is the only company who had remain positive growing rate, and become the biggest supplier in PC market in 2013. All of these derived from that merger case ten years ago.
      This research will start from Lenovo’s core capability, and then deepen the discussion of each Lenovo’s experience over pass ten years. Determine the factors of Strategy of Business Growth that Lenovo use to maintain progress. Then bring the researcher into the point of view from Lenovo to analysis two case studies. First is the acquisition of IBM PC in 2004, and second will go through the acquisition of IBM x86-server in 2014. Starting by the motivation of M&A strategy, to how Lenovo get rid of the issues that happened when doing the integration of the organization. To observe how Lenovo’s take advantage of its high core value and capabilities to create better bargaining power in the market, and to find out are the capabilities have positive effect on the a acquisition case, in order to derive the key success factors.
