  • Abstract Since 2008, the shipbuilding industry has faced great challenge in having new order because of weak development and oversupply of shipping industry. Many governments have taken some measures to avoid shipbuilding firms going bankrupt to affect economic development.
     President Tsai Ing-Wen participated in the “ceremony of beginning of designing submarine and signing cooperation memorial” in the Zuoying navy base, and declared the start of the policy. If CSBS constructs the submarine successfully, it will strengthen the competency of CSBS and advance the shipbuilding industry in Taiwan.
     The study will discuss that how CSBS build the competitive advantage from RBV. First , the study will analyze the present operation condition of global shipbuilding industry, and the resources and ability of CSBS. Next, the study will discuss the competitive advantage and disadvantage of CSBS in global shipbuilding industry by comparing the difference among global top shipbuilder., and then the study will give some strategic suggestion,.
    According to the analysis, the suggestion of the study as followed.
    1. Strengthen the ability of marketing by participating more international ship exhibition to gain more reputation and expand the R & D team to promote the competency.
    2. Policy of “Indigenous Defence Submarine” will be a great growth chance of shipbuilding industry in Taiwan, CSBS will strengthen competency by raising the scale of domestic supplier and cultivating the human resources. Finally, industry of offshore wind energy will be a new development direction of CSBC.
