  • Abstract The openness of economic and political condition of mainland China in 90s, which has caused serious impact on Taiwan, where is known for manufacturing kingdom. Taiwanese multinational companies start to move their factory and R&D department to mainland China due the incentive of cheaper labor cost and their potential of internal market. To take advantage of the lower production cost, originations in Taiwan migrates to other countries, therefore the demand for top manager with international experiences are increasing accordingly. Prior literature has pointed that the closer fit between expatriate and their oversee position; the better outcome will be performed. Besides, with completed prior-departure training can lower the culture shock of expatriate and help managers to accomplish their international assignment successfully.
The case shows that the selection and training system of F Company was not yet been fully developed and executed. Expatriate was found selected by the willingness of their supervisor, without technical and managerial training causes the failure in performance, and be sent back to home country before their contract ends. This situation not only affects headquarters’ profit loss but wastes the resources spent on human resources. The study evaluates the relationship of selection and training system of top expatriate and their performance. Our empirical results were suggested for improving F Company’s current system and provide expatriate a better selection and training plan.
The empirical result indicates the selection and training system of top expatrise managers are positively related expatriate’s performance.Especially the factor of professional capavility and family factor are positive related with job performance.
