  • Abstract This study aims to explore the relationship between adult learners’ language anxiety and perfectionism. The participants were 244 randomly selected adult students (92 males and 152 females) at 2 adult language institutes in southern part of Taiwan. A questionnaire about English anxiety and perfectionism was adopted as data collection. The obtained data were analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis, regression analysis, t-test and ANOVA. The results showed a weak but significant relationship between adult learners’ language anxiety and perfectionism, although there is no significant gender difference in language anxiety and perfectionism. The findings of this study offer some implications for English instructors and suggestions for future researchers.
