  • Abstract In today’s booming international shipping, green ports have become an international trend in the development of ports. The port of Kaohsiung has obtained the EcoPorts certification, becoming the Asia-Pacific region's first eco-port. However, as a pioneer green port in Taiwan, the question whether the green port policy can improve its competitiveness has become a topic of concern for the port operators.
    The purpose of this study was to explore, through a literature review, an analysis of foreign successful cases, and the development of a structural equation modeling framework based on stakeholders’ views, the influence of green port policies on the competitiveness of the port of Kaohsiung.
    The model was built using the AMOS software. Results showed that the internal environmental measures are positively associated with external green collaboration, internal environmental measures are positively associated with green performance, internal environmental measures are positively associated with the competitiveness of the port of Kaohsiung, green performance is positively associated with the competitiveness of the port of Kaohsiung and external green collaboration is negatively associated with the competitiveness of the port of Kaohsiung. It is hoped that the results of this study can be used by port operators and port management authorities.
