  • Abstract The current environment become more unstable and competitive. For helping organizations to manage complex tasks, information system (IS) projects might stop functioning temporarily caused by some unexpected events. It is critical for IS projects to stay resilient to cope with environmental complexity and maintain acceptable performance. This study aims to identify the prominent elements and antecedents of resilience. To build up a positive atmosphere within project, the style of leadership plays a key role. This study aimed at analyzing the effect of task-oriented and relationship-oriented leadership on team resilience. A mixed method including a qualitative and a quantitative method is used. This study conducts an interview to explore the dimensions of resilience and a questionnaire-survey to examine the proposed model. Through interviewing 23 IS professionals, we identified four dimensions of resilience, including absorb, adapt, recover, and learn. In the next stage, we collected data from 165 respondents to examine the proposed model. The results showed that team resilience can facilitate project performance, morale, and bounce back of an IS project. Task-oriented and relationship-oriented leadership both had significant impact on team resilience.
