ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning企業資源規劃)系統隨著時代的演進，它已經是各家產業整合產業內資訊內容時都需要的基本資訊系統，過去MIS研究領域上針對導入ERP系統所研究之相關主題有相當多的主題，像是軟體供應商的選擇和導入ERP的關鍵成功因素等，在這邊本研究注重於系統使用，而關於系統使用研究的方面也有相當多的主題，在這邊本研究注重的在於多階層式系統使用。

關於資訊系統使用的研究並不是全新的議題，在許多的文獻中都有提到資訊系統的研究，但是很少研究去探討到多階層式的系統使用。資訊系統使用的階層大概有三層，個人、群體、組織，大多數的研究都是針對單一階層去做研究，而在這邊本研究想要探討的是個人系統使用以及群體系統使用，這兩者間的互動關係，也就是探討到在多階層系統使用的情況。

本研究主要目的是想要探討以及分析在導入ERP系統之後，多階層式的系統使用情況，以及多階層式的使用會如何影響系統使用的績效。本研究首先會先探討ERP系統究竟是什麼，ERP系統是如何的跟多階層式系統使用理論產生關係，多階層式系統使用會在什麼時候以及怎麼樣產生系統使用績效，並使用多階層式的理論建立一個研究架構，並加入了活動理論對跨階層的群體活動作一個說明，最後利用這個研究架構去針對一家已導入ERP系統的公司進行質化研究來去回答出多階層式系統使用的相互影響以及在這互相影響之中對工作績效會有怎麼樣影響的問題。
