行動支付技術在台灣的發展將近 10 年,至今仍未取代信用卡與現金成為消 費者的主流支付方式,因此本研究想觀察台灣在 2020 年初受到 COVID-19 的入 侵後,一般民眾對於行動支付的使用,是否有顯著上升的現象。
本研究旨在探討 COVID-19 疫情對台灣行動支付市場的影響。透過政府釋出 的總體資料以及自行設計的問卷調查,來分析疫情爆發前後台灣民眾行動支付使用頻率的變化,並探討除了疫情以外的其他影響因素是否也對台灣民眾的行動支付使用頻率產生影響。
研究結果顯示,因為 COVID-19 疫情在台灣大爆發而加入行動支付的使用者 中,2020 年加入的使用者,其使用頻率增長比其他時間加入的人更高。相對地, 原本就有使用行動支付習慣的人在疫情爆發後的使用頻率上並沒有顯著影響,可 能是因為他們已經把行動支付融入日常的交易行為。此外,隨著時間的推移,疫 情對行動支付使用的影響力也逐漸遞減,疫情剛發生時加入的使用者,使用頻率 的增加的幅度有高於後續的年份的跡象。最後,本研究還發現在 COVID-19 期間, 年齡、性別、居住地區等三個其他影響因素,都對疫情爆發後的使用頻率有顯著 影響。
Abstract
Mobile payment technology has been developing in Taiwan for almost 10 years, but it has not yet replaced credit cards and cash as the mainstream payment method for consumers. Therefore, this study wants to observe whether there is a significant increase in the use of mobile payment by the general public in Taiwan after COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020.
The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mobile payment market in Taiwan. Using general information released by the government and self-designed questionnaires, this study analyzed the changes in the frequency of mobile payment used by the Taiwanese public before and after the outbreak, and explored the factors, besides the outbreak, which had a significant impact on the frequency of mobile payment use by Taiwanese consumers.
According to the results of the study, among individuals who started using mobile payment due to the COVID-19 outbreak in Taiwan, those who joined in 2020 exhibited a higher growth in usage frequency compared to those who joined at other times. Relatively, those who were already accustomed to using mobile payments did not have a significant increase on the usage frequency after the pandemic, probably because they had already integrated mobile payments into their daily transaction behavior. In addition, the impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic on mobile payment use increased in the beginning and then faded over time, with users who joined in the latter two years showing signs of diminish- ing changes in frequency of use. Finally, this study revealed significant impacts on usage frequency after the COVID-19 pandemic in terms of age, gender, and residential area.
