Abstract
Social capital is a part of our daily business life, and employees as well as managers have different experiences and acceptance of networking. Employees, managers and the population in general are highly interested in developing and using networks, including their friends, work colleagues, colleagues from the business environment and many more. Through those networks, people can perceive and receive a lot of benefits. With the conducted literature review and qualitative study, it turned out, that most employees and managers use networks and their benefits, but have a different understanding of its acceptance from an ethical standpoint. A lot of people just feel dirty to benefit from their network and want to get higher salaries, better jobs or knowledge through the formal ways of business. The results showed that most interviews as well as the literature suggest that using and benefiting from social capital is essential in our everyday business. It turned out that people have a different understanding of the usage and ethics of social capital. Honesty, fairness and giving back within the network are the key determinants for social capital users to accept and benefit from their network.
