自健保實施以來，台灣藥品市場經歷的一段快速成長的時期，國外廠商也紛紛近來這個市場，不過隨著健保的透支，健保藥品每年都必須面對藥價調降的壓力，台灣本地的藥廠所面臨的競爭以及經營壓力越來越大，所獲得的利潤卻越來越少，因此向外尋求成長是台灣藥廠的機會點。
隨著經濟的發展，越南的醫療市場也快速的成長，台灣廠商在越南面對的競爭不僅是當地廠商，更直接的是其他跨國企業的競爭。不過藉由新市場的成長也可以為公司帶來新的成長機會，個案公司進入越南的模式是在當地設立辦事處，並直接任用當地團隊來經營當地市場，如此可以減少進入當地所遭遇的跨文化障礙，不過跨文化團隊的管理則是要面對的問題，而這也是所有跨國企業所要直接面對的問題，個案公司在這方面表示是其與其他跨國公司競爭的優勢，顯示有其獨到的管理方式。
在面對一個快速成長的市場，除了依靠自身能力的去成長以外，購併也是可以考慮的方式，藉由購併以取得市場與能力並快速的成長，不過購併所以面對的風險也是考量的，就如同機會同時也伴隨著風險一樣，而這點也是台灣藥廠在做跨國經營時可以考慮的方式。
