Abstract |
Social enterprise is an organization with both social and economic goals. However, due to resource scarcity, it is difficult for social enterprise to achieve social and economic performance. And social capital may help social enterprise to solve the problem. Although scholars agree that social capital is beneficial to the performance of social enterprise, little research further explains the effects that each dimension of social capital on social and economic performance. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to understand the impact that each dimension of social capital on the overall and individual performance for social enterprises, and to understand the relationship between each dimension. This study used the Web of Science Core Collection database in the Social Sciences Citation Index to obtain 52 literatures of social capital and social enterprise as research samples. Based on the results of the corpus analysis, this research proposes the following propositions. First, each dimension of social capital has a positive impact on social and economic performance of social enterprises, but the impact of each dimension is different. Second, the most crucial dimension is the relational dimension as its stronger impact. Third, the cognitive and the relational dimension affect more social performance than economic performance. Finally, when the structural dimension reaches at a certain level, it will show a negative correlation with the relational dimension. |
